- Using your headphones, watch this video of African-American author Maya Angelou and complete the questions associated with the video.
- Homework:
- Read this poem by Maya Angelou.
- Write a few sentences reflecting on EACH of the following questions: What is this poem about? Why do you think contemporary celebrities such as Nicki Minaj, Alicia Keys, and Serena Williams read this poem today?
- Email to me anytime before class on Thursday. (Your work can be in the body of the email.)

- Navigate to the VOCABULARY page and follow the instructions to complete that assignment.

- Once a decision is made, please click on their name to do the reading.
- Use this document to take notes on things that stick out to you from the reading.

- Come up with a thesis for your project. This should answer the central questions of the assignment: Do your author's experiences as a minority in America influence his/her work? How?

- You may either turn in a final paper or present a final presentation to the class.
- Complete this form to lock in the type of final project you will be doing.

WEEK 3- PROJECT WORK: Thursday
- Create an outline for your paper or presentation using this template and cite all websites used.
- Email to me once you are finished.
- Homework:
- Create a first draft of your paper or presentation in either Google Docs or Google Slides.
- Share with me by Sunday at 12 pm.
WEEK 4- PROJECT COMPLETION: Tuesday
- Read email from me containing comments on the first draft of your final project.
- Make any edits necessary for your final draft.
- Homework:
- Put the finishing touches on your work and be prepared to turn in or present on Thursday!
- If you are presenting, please email me your final draft before class on Thursday so the technology is ready for you.
